The Trans-Neptunian Automated Occultation Survey (TAOS II) event simulator
Session 5.01P Occulations (Blind)

We present an event simulator for the Trans-Neptunian Automated Occultation Survey (TAOS II). The simulator accounts for the diffraction features expected in occultation events of kilometer-size transneptunian objects (TNOs) and geometric occultation events produced by larger objects. Furthermore, given the TAOS II observations using three telescopes at wide separations (≥ 127 m), additional event parameters must be considered than those typical for single telescope observations. These include the three-dimensional relative location of the telescopes, the elevation and azimuth of the target star, and the projected observer–TNO relative velocity vector. In addition, we present the results of a three-telescope simultaneous event parameter fitting algorithm, which demonstrates the benefit of multi-telescope observations.
